Hurt’s Donut Company

1600 State Hwy 76, Branson, MO 65616

Your journey begins with a treat. Think circular, delicious, and whole-heartedly deep-fried to perfection. To be enjoyed in many ways; classic, holes, and filled; this item is often eaten for breakfast and really any other time in the day. There really isn’t a bad time to enjoy a DONUT!

Hurt’s Donut Company prides itself on producing donuts that are rebels to all other donuts. That’s right, they crank things up a notch and offer no apologies. They offer over 70 varieties of donuts, such as fruity pebbles, Andes mint, maple bacon, English gentleman, cookie monster, and more! Sample a few or stick with what’s tried and true to you. No matter the donut, be prepared to enjoy a unique treat.

The Instagram selfie ideas for this first location of the scavenger hunt can get just as creative as the donut flavors offered. Get two donuts and make them large spectacles or simply go classic and pose with the signature donut on the wall. Arguably, the best photo op is with their emergency donut vehicle. After all, a great way to capture the memory with your family is by pretending to answer pastry emergencies, isn’t it?

Pro tip: Start a donut journey you didn’t know existed and order a milkshake. Really, a milkshake at a donut shop? Yes, really! At Hurt’s Donut Company, you can pick one of their donuts and they make a shake for you to match it. Best yet, that shake is garnished with the entire oversized donut right on top. You donut want to miss it (donut = do not, see what we did there?).

Dick Clark’s Celebrity Car Museum

1600 State Hwy 76, Branson, MO 65616

This next location isn’t very far from Hurt’s Donut Company. You don’t even have to get back in the car. But you’ll see many cars, and they’re all celebrities. Rub elbows with car stars from your favorite moments of pop culture.

Dick Clark’s Celebrity Car Museum is great for the entire family. Everyone loves movies and everyone has a favorite. Feel the nostalgia of your favorite as you tour the museum. Scooby Doo, Jurassic Park, Ghostbusters, and more!

Pro tip: Really up your Instagram game with a picture from inside your favorite car. For a small fee, the museum allows you to sit in the driver’s seat and experience the car up close and personal. How often do you go to a museum and actually get in the display?

The Great American Steak & Chicken House

2421 76 Country Blvd, Branson, MO 65616

Alright, enough yolking around, it’s time to get serious about the scavenger hunt. This next Instagrammable place in Branson is im-peck-able. Take the nearest eggs-it and don’t be a chicken when you arrive face-to-face with Mr. Peck.

The Great American Steak & Chicken House is home to a sharp-dressed 43-foot-tall rooster named Mr. Peck. And he makes a statement. This over-sized poultry helps make the location the easiest-to-find restaurant in Branson. A great backdrop to any selfie, make sure to angle your camera just right to achieve success. Maybe a phone on the ground, self-timer, run and smile type of set up could work best. One thing is for sure. Mr. Peck is memorable and will help you share a laugh with your family.

Pro tip: Don’t just stop by for a photo, go on in and experience the main attraction, the food. Ozarks’ hospitality and country cooking await you for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. When was the last time you enjoyed a home-cooked meal? Sit back and relax over a plate of wholesome good food with your family. We call that a “Winner, winner, chicken dinner!”

Hollywood Wax Museum

3030 76 Country Blvd A, Branson, MO 65616

What do you get when you cross candles with Hollywood? No, not a candle with Brad Pitt’s face on it. Not a candlelight vigil for a movie star. And not a scary movie where the lights go out. We’re talking about a place so Instagrammable you’re going to think you’re actually in Hollywood.

The Hollywood Wax Museum features wax displays of movie, music, and television stars. And this isn’t a “look and don’t touch” museum. Get up close and personal with the likes of Tom Hanks, The Rock, and more! Pose, dress up with the provided costumes and props, and walk the red carpet with your family and capture the perfect selfie. You can even put on a wedding dress and marry your favorite leading man.

Pro tip: Vote for who you want to see next! Is your family’s favorite star not in the museum? Submit your vote to get them added for your next visit.

Titanic Museum

3235 76 Country Blvd, Branson, MO 65616

Next, let’s visit an icon. She cost $7.5 million to build and was one of three sisters. She was often called “The Ship of Dreams” and could reach a top speed of 23 knots. In her day, she was the largest manmade moving object on Earth!

The Titanic is a living museum where you’re assigned a boarding pass of a real passenger and travel through time on the ship. Explore replicas or cabins, parlors, and even the grand staircase with real relics pulled from the shipwreck on the ocean’s floor. Regardless of how you set up for this Instagram shot, another photo of Mom and Dad on the bow pretending to be Jack and Rose from the Titanic movie is obviously a must.

Pro tip: Touch a real iceberg. You read that right. There is a growing iceberg within a vat of 28-degree water that you can dip your hand into. Although tolerable at first, the cold sets in fast and you’ll be pulling your hand out in no time.

Branson Ferris Wheel

3335 76 Country Blvd, Branson, MO 65616

Alright, let’s go back to the start. Remember the beginning of the scavenger hunt when we were thinking circular? Let’s do that again, but this time we can’t eat it. What do cars, roller skates, shopping carts, and wheelbarrows have in common? This isn’t a trick; you can figure this out. Where there’s a wheel, there’s a way. Wheel see you soon at this next Instagrammable place.

The Branson Ferris Wheel stands 150 feet tall and offers a unique perspective of the surrounding city and Ozark Mountains during a 15-minute ride. Formerly located on Chicago’s Navy Pier, the giant spinning wheel was deconstructed and put back together in 2016 and has called Branson home ever since.

How will your family capture this eye in the sky? Whether your selfie is from the ground or from the very top, it’ll be a show stopper.

Pro tip: Experience the Ferris wheel by night. With over 144,000 individual lights, this 40-gondola structure luminates in the dark along with music during “Electrify”, its music and light spectacular. It’s a whole new way to enjoy a view of Branson and create a memory with our family.

Ripley’s Believe It or Not!

3326 76 Country Blvd, Branson, MO 65616

Sometimes you need to think outside the box. The next place on our scavenger hunt does just that. You’ll discover anomalies and things too bizarre to be true, but true they are. See for yourself the wonders put together under one roof.

Ripley’s Believe It or Not is your one stop shop for unique artifacts, one-and-onlys, and the craziest facts out there. This odditorium is your family’s chance to be a little crazy and create a fun memory. Take a family portrait with a random shrunken head or with one of many hands-on interactives. There are endless opportunities to capture your family’s personality and have a laugh.

Pro tip: Explore the outside display of military marvels at no cost. Just outside the museum you can walk along and learn about different military vehicles used in combat since World War II.

Ronald Reagan Bust

3415 State Hwy 76, Branson, MO 65616

This next location in the selfie chase is less where, but who. A champion of free enterprise, a Hollywood movie actor, and the 40th President of the United States, this man is famous many times over. That’s right, we’re about to pay a special visit to the one and only Ronald Reagan.

A Ronald Reagan bust sits abandoned near the Branson strip. Where did he come from? Why is he there? And why is he so big? These are questions locals have been asking for years. Placed in a parking lot as a business deal, sold, and then left behind, this bust weighs 9,800 pounds and isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Reagan’s mystery and quirkiness make a great addition to your Instagram when you post this family selfie.

Pro tip: Get super creative! During this stop of the scavenger hunt see if your family can do a human pyramid next to Reagan. Or have everyone wear a ten gallon hat and pay tribute to his Hollywood days. This is a perfect Instagrammable moment to have fun. We dare you to pick his nose!

Dick’s 5 & 10

103 W Main St, Branson, MO 65616

No scavenger hunt around Branson would be complete without this next selfie stop. If you had a nickel for every day it’s been in business, you’d have a lot of nickels. And we mean a lot because that’s over 60 years worth of nickels. Have a guess of where you’re going? Think general store. Think classic Americana. And we’ll give you a hint… think coins.

Dick’s 5 & 10 in the heart of downtown Branson is run today like it was run when it first opened in 1961. It’s an old-time variety store with aisles lined of toys, gifts, collectibles, and more. The sheer volume of traditional items you’ll see make the selfie options endless.

Pro tip: Take a walk down memory lane and find your favorite toy from childhood or sample a novelty candy. Create an amazing memory as a family with this walk through the past.

Branson Postcard Mural

114 E Main St, Branson, MO 65616

You’ve made it this far, so don’t give up now! What travels around the world, but sits in the corner? If you said stamp, you’re right. And we use stamps for all mail, including postcards.

Discover the Branson Postcard Mural in downtown. It’s the top Instagram selfie spot in Branson and the perfect ending to your family’s scavenger hunt. After all, you couldn’t complete an entire hunt of selfies near Branson without paying homage to the city now, could you?

This mural was painted by Raine Clotfelter, better known as “America’s Muralist”, a decorated US Navy Illustrator Draftsman. His attention to the unique and historical make this location what it is and has earned notable recognition nationally. Branson is grateful for his beautiful display.

Pro tip: Enjoy the rest of what downtown has to offer! Just a short stroll around the mural are shops, restaurants, and more. Watch a play at the Historic Owen Theatre, eat an ice cream cone at the old-time Mr. B’s Ice Cream Parlor, or ride “Sparky,” the free downtown trolley.

You did it! Your journey is complete and your Instagram selfie cred is up by at least one hundred percent.

Now, take a moment to recap the scavenger hunt and reflect on your experiences as a family. Did you fight crime in the Batmobile or pretend to pick Ronald Reagan’s nose? That fun has been captured forever in a group of family Instagram selfies. You’ll get home and have something to remind you of the priceless memories forever.
